The BEHNA Ensemble is releasing Not Like That under AVA KHORSHID label in the summer of 2010. The ensemble comprises seasoned musicians like {Kasra Ebrahimi} on drums, {Behrang Baqaii} on tar, {Mahan Mirarab} on guitar, {Purang Purshirazi} on double bass, who were the original members in 2006, when the ensemble was formed, joined a year later by newer members {Alireza Rahiminezhad} on keyboard, Sina Khoshkehbijari on percussions and {Babak Riahipour} on bass.
The godfather of the ensemble is composer and keyboardist {Ramin Behna} who is among the movers of a genre that has become known as talfiqi or fusion in Iran since the mid

L’ancienne route du commerce maritime de l’Océan Indien allait autrefois de l’Afrique aux côtes du Yémen, du Sultanat d’Oman à l’Iran, pour remonter vers l’Est jusqu’à la province indienne du Gujarat, son carrefour étant l’île de Zanzibar, face à l’actuelle Tanzanie. À partir du IXe siècle, la traite des esclaves est introduite dans un monde à forte dominante islamique. Cette rencontre forcée de l’Afrique et de l’Orient musulman, engendrera un véritable syncrétisme afro-islamique. Chants, danses et cérémonies dérivés de nombreux rituels et traditions issus d’une Afrique noire animiste témoigneront d’une culture de résistance face à la tragédie de l’esclavage.
